TECHNOLOGY FACILITATOR STANDARD VIII:
Leadership and Vision
TF-VIII. Educational technology facilitators will contribute to the shared vision for campus integration of technology and foster an environment and culture conducive to the realization of the vision.
Self- Assessment
Technology, like all tools, can be adapted for many purposes (Williamson 2009). I am called on a great deal when teachers and family have a technical support question. These digital immigrants are lazy, afraid, or didn't pay attention during the training, but I know as a facilitator, I must stay on top of what's going on to help with the overall vision. I communicate what's going on in my classes through e-mail and on my class website.
Learn as a Learner
In regard to student-centered instruction, Stansbury (2007) wrote that themes quickly emerge: (1) Leadership provides vision and support: (2) ongoing professional development changes teaching and learning: (3) data drive decisions: (4) high-quality teaching; and (5) communication across the district-- with parents and all stakeholders-- is key. I strive to cover all Technology Application TEKS and incoporate cross-curriculum subject matter as well. Although, I'm not a "core" teacher, I do what I can to support other areas such as exercises in grammar or using video/audio software to help students on a recent Holocaust exhibit.

Lifelong Learning Skills
Technology plans should be aligned to other strategic initiatives in the district, state, and nation (Williamson). Prensky (2001) said today's teacher's have to learn to communicate in the language and style of their students. However, I think it should go further where parents, administrators, and other stakeholders are also trained since we are the digital immigrants.
